Overview

 

 

The ideal Cardiovascular Intensive Care ICU RN will have the ablility to demonstrate leadership through the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of critical care patients in the CVICU Department. The RN will care for patients through remote monitoring with the goal of early detection of warning signs and clinical deterioration. Administering care for patients following open heart surgery. The CVICU RN’s may also provide acute care to heart transplant patients. This position will be a team that collaborates Cardiovascular treatments to a diverse population of critically ill adults across multiple hospitals.

 

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities

 

 

  • The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Registered Nurse ICU Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act, with emphasis on the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Registered Nurse ICU (CVICU) Service Line.
  • Use therapeutic communication in daily practice.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic Intensive Care environment.
  • Implement and direct care, using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of individual ACC patients.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing process.
  • Provide emotional support of the patient and significant others to make informed choices regarding health care.
  • Promote a supportive environment that treats patients and families with dignity, respect and appreciation of their lifestyle, religion and culture.
  • Maintain high quality, age specific care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients as assigned.
  • Delegate tasks to the appropriate caregiver.
  • Participate in Intensive Care Registered Nurse Department specific initiatives and process improvement.
  • Provide supervision of new employees, patient care assistants, nurse technicians, student nurses, and / or nurse interns.
  • Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization

Qualifications

 

 

  • Minimum of 1 year acute care in a hospital setting (within the last 12 months)

  • Current RN state license.

  • A minimum of one year as a cardiovascular critical care, two to three years preferred.

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred.

  • Current ACLS and BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card.

  • CCRN preferred or willingness to obtain within four months of employment.

  • Proficiency with Windows-based computer skills and operations.

  • Evidence of collaborative practice with physicians.

  • Evidence of effective communication skills.
